Based in Auckland, New Zealand, the Division is close to port facilities for exporting to all parts of the world. Over 60% of production is destined for overseas markets. In Hermetic's formative years, the geographic isolation of New Zealand was a positive factor in its development, because it forced the company to implement innovative manufacturing techniques to ensure it was competitive on the international scene.

The need to be internationally competitive has meant that consumers in the New Zealand market have had the advantage of access to electrical products of international standards at local prices.

While the Division produces an extensive range of Hermetic tubular electric elements, the plant is the largest producer of water heater elements in Australasia. Hermetic New Zealand's strength has been the design and manufacture of elements for a variety of applications.

Central to the desire to design and manufacture electrical elements to the highest international standards is the company's own Design Engineering Centre. Hermetic New Zealand embarked on the programme for Quality Assurance to ISO9001 and became registered to this standard in November 1993. Subsequently with continual monitoring of all activities, registration to ISO9001 has been maintained. Registration will be maintained to the updated 2000 version. The New Zealand plant manufactures and supplies products for appliance manufacturers, and services the on-going replacement markets through dedicated distributors.

The focus of all activities is the customer's application requirements. Experience and knowledge gained over decades and adaptability to change allows the Division to find solutions to customer problems.
